Schedule regular backups via NVivo Server Manager

You can now schedule regular backups via NVivo Server Manager. Previously, backups had to be scheduled via SQL Server Management Studio (of course, if you prefer to manage backups via SQL Server Management Studio, you can still do this).

You can choose how often you back up projects—for example, daily or weekly—and the time of day that the backup commences. And, you can set up e-mail notifications, that alert you if a backup fails.

Once created, the schedule runs automatically and backs up all NVivo projects on the server. You can view the history of your backups via NVivo Server Manager, this makes it easy to check that the backups are completing successfully.  And, if you need to restore a project from backup, you can do this via NVivo Server Manager too.

Refer to Maintain NVivo Server (Schedule regular backups via NVivo Server Manager) for more information.

Set file locations via NVivo Server Manager

The new Settings tab in NVivo Server Manager makes its easy to see where data files and transaction log files for new projects will be stored. And, you can now set the file locations for new projects via NVivo Server Manager—previously, you had to do this via SQL Server Management Studio.

Refer to Maintain NVivo Server (Set the file locations for new projects) for more information.

Identify Project Owners via NVivo Server Manager

As server administrator, you control access to the server, but Project Owners control access to NVivo projects. Sometimes, you may need to identify the Project Owners for a particular project.

For example, if a user requests access to a particular project, you may want to identify the Project Owners, so the user can contact the Project Owner and request access to the project.

You can now identify the Project Owners for a particular project via NVivo Server Manager.

Refer to Monitor NVivo Server (Find the Project Owners for a particular server project) for more information.
